Bleachers drop a ‘Not So Typical Love Song’

Bleachers fans were just given some good news when the band surprised them with a brand new song. On Wednesday (Jan. 16), the Jack Antonoff-led act unleashed a new tune titled “Alfie’s Song (Not So Typical Love Song).” The song, which can be streamed above, is featured on the upcoming Love, Simon movie soundtrack.

The movie soundtrack will feature tracks from The 1975, Whitney Houston, the Jackson 5, Troye Sivan, and of course several songs from Bleachers’ own discography. As if having several of his own songs on the album wasn’t enough, Antonoff is also the executive producer of the soundtrack.

Love, Simon tells the story of a gay teenager who falls for an anonymous classmate he meets online, but there’s one catch; he hasn’t come out yet. The movie will star Everything, Everything actor Nick Robinson. The Greg Berlanti-directed film is based on the young adult novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. Love, Simon is set to be released on March 16. Watch the trailer for Love, Simon here.

Last year, Bleachers released their sophomore album, Gone Now. The record was met with a mixed reactions from critics, but did go on to earn the number 44 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The album also landed at the number six spot on the Top Alternative Albums chart and the number nine spot on the Top Rock Albums chart.
