Watch Dashboard Confessional and Cash Cash get hounded by a fan in ‘Belong’

With a few months left until the release of their much-anticipated new album, Dashboard Confessional has returned with another new track. On Monday (Dec. 18), the Florida-founded band unleashed the music video for the second single off Crooked Shadows; a song titled “Belong.” The song not only features frontman Chris Carrabba’s distinct vocals, but also electronic music group Cash Cash’s dancefloor-friendly drops.

The over-three-minute clip starts off innocently enough with a girl sitting in her bedroom as a movie featuring her and three guys in the car is projected against the wall behind her. Things start to take a turn for the weird when the camera pans to another bedroom wall which is covered in photographs of the Cash Cash guys (Jean Paul Makhlouf, Alex Makhlouf, and Samuel Frisch) as well as a slew of merchandise from the group. While having merchandise and photographs of your favorite band is not exactly eyebrow-raising, having mannequins dressed up as each member is. As the video progresses, the viewer watches as the girl interacts with Cash Cash mannequins and how every action she does becomes part of her delusional reality aka the movie being projected on the wall.

Just when you thought Carrabba was safe from the fangirl, you would be wrong. Soon, the protagonist adds Carrabba to her list, even giving him his own mannequin in her room.

“Making ‘Belong’ with Chris Carrabba was an incredible experience. Chris is a legendary songwriter whose powerful musical movement has undeniably herded the masses,” begins a press statement from Cash Cash.

“Combining our different styles on ‘Belong’ was extremely fun. Being influenced by Dashboard ourselves made it very easy for us to dive into the idea, merge our genres together, and make a special unique song. It hands down (pun intended) turned out to be one of our favorite songs we’ve ever made.”
