Good Charlotte drops music video for ‘War’

It’s been a while since Good Charlotte has released a new music video, but when you’re touring non-stop behind some new tunes, it’s almost expected. On Tuesday (Aug. 22), the Maryland-based band changed that when they released the official music video for their latest single, “War.” The music video begins with the band playing in what appears to be a basement, but quickly changes to a kid sitting in a darkly lit room, watching a program on the television.

The viewer watches the kid’s father appears out of nowhere and begins to throw a tantrum, throwing mail across the living room as his son sits silently in front of the television. Soon, his mother joins his father in the living room and a shouting match begins. Things only get worse when the three of them try to sit down for dinner and the shouting match continues.

Trying to escape from the tension, he heads to the park to play, but realizes how alone he really is. Instead of staying, he head to an arcade where he witnesses a bully push a girl from a game console so that he can play. All around, the bully and his group of mindless followers are seen poking fun at the girl’s expense even though she hadn’t done anything. Knowing how it feels to be in a sticky situation like that, the kid comes to her aid and they both leave the bullies and issues behind them. Watch the music video for “War” above.

“War” joins” Keep Swinging,” “Life Changes,” “Makeshift Love,” “Life Can’t Get Much Better” and “40 oz. Dream” on Good Charlotte’s “comeback” album, Youth Authority. The record, the group’s sixth studio album, was released in the summer of 2016.

In support of the album, the group has been touring behind its release non-stop. Coming up, the band will embark on the inaugural Warped Rewind at Sea cruise at the end of October. Good Charlotte will join Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Simple Plan, the Starting Line, and many more on the cruise’s maiden voyage.

Warped Rewind at Sea will take place during the weekend of Oct. 28, 2017-Nov. 1, 2017. The excursion will include a four-night round-trip cruise from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico. In addition to the lengthy list of performers, the cruise will also feature DJs, comedians, a Q&A session with Lyman, activities and autograph sessions with the artists, “Emo Nite” parties, and more.
