Between the Buried and Me is hitting the road this fall to celebrate a momentous occasion for the group. On Tuesday (May 16), the North Carolina-founded band announced plans to go on tour to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their fifth studio album, Colors. The North American trek will kick off on Sept. 7 at Atlanta’s ProgPower USA XVIII music festival and wrap on Oct. 21 at the Neighborhood Theater in the group’s home state of North Carolina.
During the tour, the band will perform the eight-track album in full. Hitting the road alongside Between the Buried and Me will be the Contortionist, Polyphia, and Toothgrinder. The three bands will open for BTBAM on all stops with the exception of the group’s appearance at ProgPower USA XVIII. Tickets for the fall tour will go on sale beginning this Friday, May 19, at 10 a.m. local time.
In a statement about the tour on their website, the band reveals the reason they decided to head out on tour to celebrate this particular album. “Colors was our statement of rebellion. We were challenging how others identified us in the context of heavy metal, and ultimately we were challenging how we identified ourselves,” begins the statement.
“It was some kind of musical manifesto, in which we found new purpose and direction simply by throwing caution to the wind and purging every ounce of creative energy we had, regardless of how unhinged it may have seemed at the time. Ten years have passed and we are lucky enough to be able to play this album from front to back on stage for our amazing fans. See you all soon!”
Colors was released in July of 2007 and sold 12,600 copies in its first week of sale. In addition to that, it reached the number 57 spot on the Billboard 200 chart marking the first time the band reached the top 100 part of the chart.
