Katy Perry confirms new album, announces massive North American tour

After releasing two singles, which left fans asking for more, Katy Perry has officially announced that her fifth studio album will see a summertime release date. On Monday (May 15), the California girl announced that her long-awaited new album will be named Witness. Witness, Perry’s first new set of tunes in nearly four years, is set to be released on June 9 through Capitol Records. A few weeks ago, rumors began to circulate that Perry’s upcoming album would be titled Witness. Instead of confirming or denying the rumors, Perry allowed her legion of followers to believe what they wanted.

In addition to the new album, Perry has also announced a massive tour that will find the “Chained to the Rhythm” singer performing at a slew of North American venues throughout the late months of 2017 and early months of 2018. “WITNESS: The Tour” will begin on Sept. 7 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus and conclude almost five months later on Feb. 5, 2018 at the Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

For fans of the pop star, there will be a special pre-sale to obtain tickets before anyone else.  The verified fan pre-sale will take place on Thursday (May 18) beginning at 9 a.m. local time and concluding three hours later at noon. For Perry’s Canadian fans, their verified fan pre-sale will begin next Tuesday, May 23, at 10 a.m. local time. Unlike the United States pre-sale, this one will last 12 hours. To qualify for the verified fan pre-sale, head on over to Perry’s website here.

Witness will mark Perry’s first new album since the release of 2013’s Prism. Previously released singles “Chained to the Rhythm” and “Bon Appétit” are just two of the new songs featured on the impending release.
