Dashboard Confessional to embark on early 2017 tour

Brush up on “Hands Down” and “Vindicated” because Dashboard Confessional will be hitting the road in 2017. On Tuesday (Dec. 6), the Florida-founded band surprised fans when they announced a tour scheduled for the first two months of the new year. The upcoming trek will officially kick off on Jan. 17 at the Waiting Room in Buffalo, NY and wrap up a month later on Feb. 17 at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC.

Pre-sales for Citi card members are currently ongoing while general ticket sales will begin this Friday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. local time. While the dates and venues have been unveiled, the guys in Dashboard have yet to formally announce who will be opening for them or if they will have any supporting acts at all.

The new tour announcement comes almost five months after wrapping up their time on the 2016 Rockstar Energy Drink’s Taste of Chaos tour. Alongside Taking Back Sunday, Saosin, Motion City Soundtrack, and the Starting Line, Dashboard Confessional helped resurrect “winter Warped” after its five-year hiatus.

Before embarking on Taste of Chaos, Dashboard gave fans hope that there would be a new record coming out sometime during the year when frontman Chris Carrabba posted a black-and-white video for a new song titled “May.” Sadly, it appeared to be a one-off track for the time being.

During a 2015 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Carrabba gave fans hope that the long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s Alter the Ending would be released in the near-future. “It really feels like we’re eager to write, which means there’s probably a new record coming out,” Carrabba teased at the time. “Who am I kidding? There’s a new record coming.”

Then, in a follow-up interview a year later, Carrabba once again made reference to new music and enjoying the process this time around, but admitted to not having a release date in mind. “I don’t have any idea of a release date or a worry about one for that matter but I’m really excited to be doing it because I don’t think it’s ever felt this much like the beginning again. No one’s paying attention.”

No matter what, let’s hope that this tour might just result in that new album seeing a 2017 release date. For now, the complete list of tour dates can be seen below.
