Dropkick Murphys fans, it’s time to rejoice! On Thursday (Nov. 3), the Massachusetts-founded band announced plans to release their ninth studio album in the new year. The new record will be titled 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory and is set for a Jan. 6, 2017 release date through their record label Born & Bred Records. The record, which was produced by Ted Hutt, was actually not recorded in Boston. Instead, the group decided to pack up their bags and headed south to El Paso, TX to record the album.

“To me, the whole journey starts with the fact we actually agreed to go – and then went – to Texas, because we’ve never left home to make a record,” bassist/founder Ken Casey said in a press release. “As everyone’s lives have become crazier and busier with kids and families, it’s gotten harder to buckle down at home. We decided to leave Boston, go down to literally the middle of nowhere and lock ourselves in a room.”

The result of being locked in a room in Texas became 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory. Pre-orders for the new album are currently available on iTunes while limited edition CDs and vinyl are being offered on the band’s official webstore. To give fans a taste of what to expect, the band has released the lyric video for their first single, “Blood.” Check out the new song below.

In addition to announcing 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory’s release, the band has also unveil a massive tour set to take place at the beginning of the new year.
