The Pixies announce new album, stream new song


Back in February, The Pixies posted a short 20-second clip featuring some guitar feedback which then gave way to some white text proclaiming, “PIXIES COMING…2016.” Now, five months have passed since the clip was released and the band is ready to unveil what exactly will becoming from their camp in 2016. On Wednesday (July 6), the Massachusetts-based band confirmed the release of their upcoming sixth studio album. The new record will be titled Head Carrier is due out on Sept. 30 through Pixiesmusic/ Play it Again Sam.

The new record marks their first release since comeback album, Indie Cindy in 2014. Head Carrier will feature a total of 12 new tracks including lead single, “Um Chagga Lagga.” In addition to the new record announcement, the group also released the audio for “Um Chagga Lagga” which can currently be streamed below.

Pre-orders for Head Carrier is currently available on the band’s website, while the complete track listing, and cover art, for the album can be seen below. Back in February, the group also announced a handful of tour dates which will kick-off beginning Thursday (July 7) at NOS Alive in Lisbon and wrap up July 21 at the Flowers Festival in Torino, Italy. Now, the group has added several more European tour dates for the fall which can be seen below as well.
