The 1975 drummer breaks shoulder

The 1975 may have recently kicked off their headlining North American tour, but now it looks like some misfortune has befallen on them. On Wednesday (May 4), the band announced that drummer George Daniel had broken his shoulder after slipping off their tour bus. While Daniel did injury himself severely, frontman Matty Healy and the group’s manager Jamie Oborne have confirmed that they will not miss any of their upcoming tour dates. Instead of the canceling any or all upcoming dates, they advised fans that the band will have a fill-in take over the vacancy until the sticksman is able to return to his kit.

“BAD NEWS: George has broken his shoulder BAD NEWS: He can’t play shows for a bit GOOD NEWS: We’re not gonna cancel shows,” wrote Healy on Twitter. “Our friend will play drums but you prob won’t be able to see him like a ghost in the back I will do DOUBLE dancing then George will be back.”

Currently, The 1975 are in the middle of a massive spring tour with Wolf Alice and Japanese House. Tonight, the United Kingdom band will perform at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK sans Daniel. The tour is in support of the group’s recently released sophomore album, I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It.
