Is that highly anticipated new Blink-182 album closer than we originally thought? If what drummer Travis Barker recently revealed is true, then the answer to that will be “yes.” Over the weekend, Barker’s annual music and tattoo festival, Musink Festival, invaded California for its ninth incarnation. While being interviewed by Punk Videos Rock, the sticksman confirmed that the new Blink album has in fact been completed.
“The album’s done, I’ll be honest with everybody,” confirms Barker. “It’s just a matter of picking what 12 to 14 songs are going to be on the album. I think we wrote 26 or 27? So everyone right now is really pushing for their favorites.”
In the same interview, which can be seen below, Barker praises Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba who joined the group back in 2015 after the inter-band turmoil dust settled. “It was great to have someone who wants to be in the studio all the time with us. It has been amazing, I think the days of making great records, at least with Blink, the proof has been shown that it’s great when we’re all in the studio together.”
While there has been no hints given as to when the new record is projected to be released or what it will be named, at least we know that there is a huge possibility that it will be released some time in 2016. This new album will be the follow-up to 2011’s Neighborhoods.
