Blink-182 Drummer Gives Update on New Music

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has been the one keeping fans up-to-date with what is going on with the group’s highly anticipated, but still untitled and unconfirmed new album. Last year, Barker had all but confirmed that a brand new album was coming out in 2016. Now, in a recent interview, the sticksman has once again given fans something to look forward to. While on the Kevin and Bean show, the drummer revealed some really good news.

According to Barker, the band has 15-20 song written, but that is not all. He also reveals that they are still writing new music. Like many artists, it doesn’t look like they will finish writing until the well is dry.

“We have 15-20 songs right now, but I really feel like it’s a process like where if you’re painting for an art show. If you’re gonna debut 12 paintings, you’re not just gonna paint 12 paintings. You’re gonna paint 40 paintings and go, ‘These are the 12 that I’m in love with and want to share with everybody,'” states Barker.

Like past interviews, Barker also praises the group’s new dynamic since the departure of Tom DeLonge and the arrival of Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba.

“It’s awesome because we’re all actually in the studio. We couldn’t get that with the old line-up, it was impossible to get all three of us in the same studio. I think the ones we felt the greatest about were the ones where you’re all in the studio. I think with a band you can’t just phone it in, you’ve got to be there.”

If that’s not a dig at DeLonge, then we don’t know what is.

As of now, there’s no projected release date for this new album, but if there’s writing still going on, we can assume that it won’t be anytime soon.
