Weezer have returned with a brand new song. Late last week, the band had been performing at an iHeartRadio event when the song made its official debut. Taking to Twitter after the video had been released, the band confirmed the news that there was a new song on the horizon and that the official track would be released soon.
On Monday (Oct. 26), the band released the lyric video for “Thank God for Girls.” The song does not sound very much like the Weezer we’ve all grown to know, but according to a Facebook post by the group, it a perfect blend of “Weezer past and future.”
“It’s a perfect mix of weezer past and future. The chorus soars on melodic wings. It rocks sooooo hard. I can’t really compare it to anything specific we’ve ever done. But I can’t wait for more!” frontman Rivers Cuomo wrote. “I think this may be a big hit single. I hope I’m not overselling it but I think it’s great! (adventurous, brave, fun, compelling, rocking, and I just LOVE it.)”

At the moment, Weezer have no revealed if this is a one-off single or if it might be part of a complete record. “Thank God for girls,” is the band’s first new track since the release of their recently released album 2014’s Everything Will Be Alright in the End.
