After days of teasing on social media,”the end of eras begins October 22nd. New album. New song. New video,” Panic! at the Disco has now confirmed everything. At midnight on Thursday (Oct. 22), the Las Vegas-based band announced they will be releasing their fifth studio album early next year. The album will be titled Death of a Bachelor and will official hit shelves on Jan. 15, 2016 through Fueled by Ramen/DCD2.
In addition to the new album announcement, the band also released the music video for their new single, “Emperor’s New Clothes.” The music video seems to pick up directly after the music video for “This is Gospel” from 2013’s Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die. In it, it appears that frontman Brendon Urie doesn’t survive the previous video and just when he thought he was going to heaven, he is taken directly to hell where he becomes a crazy-looking demon.
Fitting that this video is very Tim Burton-ish and Halloween is just a week away.

In a letter to fans on their website, Urie shares the story behind the new album. In it, he reveals how when he was about ten or 11, whenever he would hear a song on TV that he liked, he would go off to the piano and/or guitar and try to play the song by ear; a difficult task. The new record, will apparently be a nod to that time of his life.
“Death of a Bachelor’ is in honor of those times I spent alone as a kid. Allowing the music to consume me. Playing everything myself just to get the idea right and out of my head. It’s a beginning to a new era. And an homage to how it all began,” writes Urie on the band’s website. To read the full letter, click here.
