Mini My Chemical Romance Reunion at Deryck Whibley and the Happiness Machines Show

For fans of the now defunct My Chemical Romance, nothing would be better than hearing the news that the band had gotten back together to put out new music. Though we don’t see that happening in the near future (and that’s coming from a die-hard My Chemical Romance fan) there’s always hope of a mini reunion to suppress our appetite momentarily.

Last night (July 7), our wish for a mini reunion finally came true at the final Deryck Whibley and the Happiness Machines show at Los Angeles’ The Lyric Theater. Former My Chem bassist Mikey Way had revealed last week he would be playing bass for the Deryck Whibley’s side band during their three shows stint in California.

In support of the bassist, two special guests attended the show; former My Chem frontman/Mikey’s brother, Gerard Way, and guitarist Ray Toro. The only person missing from the mini reunion was the group’s other guitarist, Frank Iero, whose band Frnkiero andthe cellabration is currently on tour with Against Me! and Annie Girl & The Flight.

While there’s no footage of the appearance, there was a photo from backstage posted on Instagram, showing the reunion in action.

So, can we keep our hopes that the next step is a real reunion?
