This past weekend, Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE was evacuated following some terrible weather before the late night performances on Saturday (June 20).
Things got so bad that the official Twitter account for the weekend-long festival had warned concert festival attendees who were camping on the site, to pack up their pop-up tents in fear that things would go flying. They also advised those who came in cars to take refuge in them until the weather conditions got better.
Sadly, all performances which included Kings of Leon’s headlining gig, DJ Steve Aoki, and “Seflie” duo the Chainsmokers were cancelled for the night.
Soon after the conditions bettered, festival organizers revealed that two of the three acts were able to reschedule for the next day; Kings of Leon was not one of them.
So while Kings of Leon were not there to perform, The Killers decided to pay tribute to the group by performing two covers of the Tennessee band’s songs.
Frontman Brandon Flowers began the covers session by asking the audience if they liked Kings of Leon. Right after they began to perform “The Bucket” from 2004’s Aha Shake Heartbreak and an acoustic version of “Use Somebody” from 2008’s Only By the Night.

The Killers’ appearance marks the first time the band have performed together since 2014 when they performed at Tennent’s Vital in Belfast. Since then, the band have been on hiatus while Flowers released his sophomore solo album, The Desired Effect and is slated to go on a solo tour later this year.
