Could a new Blink-182 album be coming our way sooner than we thought?
During an interview with Alternative Nation, Alkaline Trio frontman and current guitar fill-in for Blink, Matt Skiba had been asked about the possibility of him joining the band permanently and even recording a new album with them.
“It’s something I would be very excited to do and I’ve known the Blink guys for about 15 years and we’ve become good friends,” said Skiba.
“Playing songs I haven’t written with Mark [Hoppus] and Travis [Barker] is a blast, so to go in and create music with them would be amazing.”
Skiba joined the pop-punk band a few month ago after inner band turmoil reached an all time high with founding member Tom DeLonge leaving or being kicked out, depending on which story you believe, of the band.
Since DeLonge’s departure, Skiba has been filling in for all the gigs the band had previously schedule. But don’ think this is the end of Alkaline Trio. The band is slated to tour the country this Spring beginning today (April 24) at the Summit Music Hall in Denver.
Skiba’s sentiments about joining and recording an album with the remaining members of Blink-182 mirror those of drummer Travis Barker who said in an interview, “If we did make an album with Skiba, it would be unreal.”
Until then, we’ll just wait and see.
