Anyone hoping to see the reunion of culture Club might have to wait a little longer.
The “Karma Chameleon” group announced today that due to medical issues, they will be cancelling their upcoming United States and United Kingdom tour dates which were suppose to take place beginning this Saturday.
“It is with great regret that the members of Culture Club have announced the cancellation of their tours in North America and the UK scheduled for November and December 2014,” read a press release on behalf of the band.
The medical issue at hand has to do with frontman Boy George. A polyp (a fluid-filled collection that forms when a vocal cord is not rested enough) was discovered on the signer’s throat and in ordered to avoid going under the knife, a throat specialist advised him to rest his voice, resulting in a cancelled tour.
It appears that the band are also upset by the cancellation, reportedly saying that they are “devastated” by the fact that it needed to be done. The dates will be cancelled until further notice, but those who bought tickets may receive full refunds at the point of purchase.
But all does not appear lost. The band did say that they are hoping to reschedule the concerts for next year when Boy George’s problems are resolved.
Funny enough, the group’s supposed new album is slated to be released in 2015, so it would only be fitting to reschedule the shows around the time the new album is out.
