In what came as a blow to many fans attending Ultra Music Festival in Miami this weekend, Avicii had to pull out last-minute.

Last night, TMZ has reported that the Swedish DJ had been hospitalized and would be missing his pre-Ultra performance at Miami Beach’s Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel which had been changed to the Avicii Hotel for that night. Audience members had been told that he was rushed to the hospital for severe abdominal pains, nausea, and a fever which was recently revealed to be due to his gallbladder.

“I was with Tim at the hospital last night and this morning,” Ash Pournouri, Avicii’s manager said to E! News earlier in the day.

“He was really disappointed that he wasn’t able to come to the AVICII Hotel at SLS and perform for all his fans. He really appreciated all the hard work done by SLS, Ushuaia, At Night and SBE in creating the space.  It was frustrating for him not to have seen it. And of course, ULTRA has been so important to us for so many years, it’s a big letdown not being able to play.”

Upon finding out about his sudden illness and the possibility that he wouldn’t be able to perform, Ultra managed to wrangle in Deadmau5 to fill in for his headlining, closing gig on Saturday.

The DJ, whose real name is Tim Bergling, took to his Facebook to address the situation and inform fans on what is currently going on with his sudden hospitalization and what led to it. His statement can be read below.

“I’m really sorry but as some of you have already heard, I will not be playing Ultra Festival this weekend. My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis…I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away. The pain was still there when I landed so I went straight to hospital. I was treated and left later that night.Unfortunately, the pain came back yesterday afternoon and I returned to the hospital where they admitted me to stay overnight. My doctors have decided to operate and remove my gall bladder tomorrow morning. It’s a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour.

Thanks for your concern everyone, it means a lot to me!
