Fall Out Boy and Elton John seem to be an unlikely match and that’s what fans thought when the band posted a picture of them with the musician in the studio when they were working on their post-hiatus album, Save Rock and Roll.
Turned out that the worry was for nothing because the track surprised some with how it perfectly fit the album. Now the band are returning the favor by covering one of John’s songs for a special re-release.
The Chicago band covered John’s 1973 classic song, “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” as part of the remastering of his landmark album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The remastered edition, which is set to be released on March 25th, will feature a reissue of the classic album, a 100-page illustrated book, a recording of Live at the Hammersmith 1973, and a DVD of Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye to Norma Jean and Other Thing.
Fall Out Boy aren’t the only artists to contribute covers of John’s famous songs; a wide variety of musicians from all over different genres of music are also set to. Miguel, Wale, Ed Sheeran, the Band Perry, Hunter Hayes, Zac Brown Band and more have already been confirmed.
