Carly Rae Jepsen to Make Broadway Debut

Carly Rae Jepsen

Call her, maybe?

Looks like Broadway did just that because it has been confirmed that Carly Rae Jepsen will be heading to the live theater stage. The pop star will be making her stage debut in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on February 4 for a 12-week run. She will be replacing Tony-nominated Laura Osnes who is leaving the production after a yearlong run.

“Broadway has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and I look forward to working with this incredibly talented cast to tell this classic tale,” said Jepsen, who began performing in musical theater while in high school.

This isn’t the first time the Canadian singer has done something princess-related. Last year, she was given the opportunity to cover the iconic Little Mermaid song, “Part of Your World” as part of the diamond edition release of the film on DVD.

Also making their official debut on Broadway in the revamped cast of the famous musical is The Nanny herself, Fran Drescher who will be taking over the role of Cinderella’s evil stepmother, previously played by Harriet Harris.

As for Jepsen, things have been quiet on her music front since the “Call Me Maybe” hype. She followed up the hit song with a single titled “This Kiss,” but it didn’t make quite the impression that breakthrough track did. Word has it that a new album should be coming out sometime in 2014.
