‘Shine Bright Like a….’ Herpes?

Just when you think you have heard it all, let’s just add another crazy story in the world of pop music.

In today’s edition, a Harlem woman is claiming that she got herpes thanks in part to Rihanna’s lipstick.

In a lawsuit filed yesterday at the New York Supreme Court in Manhattan, Starkeema Greenidge is claiming she visited a pop-up M.A.C. cosmetics tent at Rihanna’s show on May 7th at Barclays Center when a representative went up to her and applied some ‘RiRi Woo’ lipstick which is endorsed by the “Umbrella” star.

According to Greenidge, the lipstick had previously been used by others at the concert and that one of them had herpes, eventually being spread to her.

The suit claims that “the defendant’s employee/agent applied the lipstick directly to plaintiff’s upper lip and instructed plaintiff to press her lips together and spread the lipstick around,” and that the lipstick used “was not a fresh tube of new lipstick but rather one that had been used by other patrons.”

Greenidge told The Daily News that a cold sore appeared two days after the initial application and that she went to the doctor where it was confirmed that it was in fact herpes.

“I wasn’t able to work for two weeks. It cost me a lot of money,” Greenidge told the paper. “This is going to happen over and over again if nothing is done.”

As of yesterday, she is suing M.A.C. for unspecified damages, but the lawsuit currently just has “mental anguish and emotional distress” as what she has suffered thanks in part to the whole ordeal. Rihanna,on the other hand, has not been named in the suit.
