To say that Jay-Z has had a packed couple of days in the headlines would be an understatement. First, it was his trip to communistic Cuba which was met with a lot backlash. Then there was the talk of HOV selling his share of the Brooklyn Nets in order to expand his recently announced Roc Nation Sports to basketball. And just yesterday, he announced the line-up for his Made in America Music Festival.
The rapper has released a song on his Life + Time blog today titled, “Open Letter” where he touches upon his headline-making issues such as the Cuba trip and the selling of his portion of the Nets.
Some of the lyrics are: “Politicians never did shit for me/ Except lie to me, distort history/ They wanna give me jail time and a fine– Fine, let me commit a real crime/ Obama said, ‘Chill, you’re going to get me impeached’/ You don’t need this shit anyway, chill with me on the beach,” and “I woulda moved the Nets to Brooklyn for free/ Except I made millions off you fucking dweebs/ I still own the building, I’m keeping my seats/ You buy that bullshit, you better keep your receipts.”
The song was produced by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland and also covers Jay-Z and Beyonce’s relationship with the White House and his new deal with Universal.
