In what could be the most “out of nowhere” news to come out of the weekend, Glee star, Cory Monteith, has entered a rehab facility.
According to a press release given by his publicist to People Magazine, he has “voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction. He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
Lea Michele, Monteith’s girlfriend and fellow cast mate went on to release a statement after the news hit. “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision,” she told People Magazine as well.
Following the line of statements about the actor’s voluntarily check-in was the show that made him a household name. “Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment. Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return,” the show released in a statement.
This is not Monteith’s first time dealing with drug issues and going into rehab. In an interview in 2011, the star admitted that he had serious drug problem before which led to an intervention with friends and family and rehab at age 19.
