John Mayer Back on Tour

John Mayer

Following a three-year break and a vocal hiatus brought on by throat issues, John Mayer has announced that he will be returning to the stage once again in support of his 2012 release, Born and Raised. The tour is set to kick off on July 6 at Milwaukee’s SummerFest and continue all the way into October.

Mayer’s tour is set to go to 40 cities and four countries including some of the world’s most well-known venues like, the Hollywood Bowl, Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rock in Rio in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Mayer’s opening act will be “American Idol” winner, Phillip Phillips. The “Home” crooner is scheduled to open for the singer on his tour for majority of the tour stops.

Mayer isn’t taking this touring thing lightly because he is currently scheduled to perform at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on April 25 and then the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 26. These tour dates will be the first time in over three years that Mayer has done a tour after he was diagnosed with throat granuloma which forced him to cancel tour plans that were already in action. His throat condition also made him have to push back his album a few years while his throat got better.

Mayer was recent quoted as saying, “The greatest gift I have in my life is the opportunity to play again, which is also the opportunity to dream again,” he says about getting a second shot at singing. “My dreams were in escrow, but when I found out this thing in my throat had receded, the most exciting thing for me was having a second chance at a new life. My dreams have come true twice. That’s really cool.”
